Bosnia | Adriatic roadtrip
Vrelo Bune (Buna Spring).
Cave of the source of the Buna River in Blagaj, a village-town near Mostar.
During a tour of the interior cavern we learnt that approximately 30,000 litres (30 m3) of clean water flow from the spring every second. The water in the cave is also up to 9 metres deep whilst the tunnels, supplying the spring water, have a depth of up to 30 metres in places.
After learning more about the cave we were in I experienced mild Thalassophobia and became much more conscious when putting my hand in the water surrrounding us.
After exploring more of Vrelo Bune and Blagaj village - including the Blagaj Tekke (a historic Dervish monastry built right next to the spring in the 1600s) which is partially visible in the top left this photo - we continued on to Mostar.
Stari Most, Mostar’s historic 16th century bridge, with Hum Hill in the background.
This photo was taken the day after we’d arrived in Mostar. We’d explored the city the previous evening but weren’t able to appreciate this idyllic view when it was dark.
I like how much detail is captured in this photo despite being quite a wide shot. Križ na Humu, The Millennium Cross on Hum Hill, and the crowds of spectators, watching the performance divers (from the bridge and the lower viewing area), are both clearly visible.
We contemplated doing this ourselves. We might have even followed through if we’d seen anyone other than the semi-professional, performance divers doing this jump.
I’ve very glad I backed out.
I’m fairly certain it would ruined the rest of my holiday.
Kravica lake and waterfall (also known as Kravice).
We stopped at Kravice on our way out of Bosnia and back into Croatia.
I was trying to take advantage of the late afternoon light in this photo.
I like the backlighting provided by the sun, highlighting the lady and the swimmers as well as pronouncing the mist from the waterfall (on the left of frame) and the water texture.
It’s a shame that the sky has been blown out. However I suspect that the film negative may still retain some of this detail.
